Seri Menanti Royal Museum, Negeri Sembilan

End of May, I joined Santai Travel Magazine team to Negeri Sembilan state for a familiarization trip. For those who never been to Negeri Sembilan, it is located at the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia. From KL, it is estimated about 1.5 hours to reach the destination.

Today, I'm gonna share an interesting place in Negeri Sembilan which is a must visit spot if you travel to this state.

Seri Menanti Royal Museum

This black painted building is a famous landmark in Seri Menanti district. It is now known as Seri Menanti Royal Museum. It was built in 1902-1905 (source from Tourism Malaysia website) and became the official residence of royal family until 1931.

Seri Menanti Royal Museum
Seri Menanti Royal Museum gained recognition from The Malaysia Book of Records as Malaysia's Tallest Timber Palace. Besides, this old wooden palace is well known for the ingenuity and creativity of ancient craftsmen to build it without the use of nails or screws. The carpenters at the time used wooden pegs so that the palace would be able to withstand the times.

Seri Menanti

It has 99 solid timber pillars, each soaring 65 feet, representing the 99 warriors of various clans. In addition, the exterior and interior of the palace also has intricate flower motifs to beautify the regal palace. In 1992, it was turned into a museum, opened to public for visit.

Balai Rong Diraja (The Royal Hall)

The Balai Rong Diraja is used by His Royal Highness Tuanku Yang Di Pertuan Besar and Her Royal Highness Tunku Ampuan for royal functions and gatherings. There are 7 raised platforms in the Balai Rong Diraja. All the ceremonial objects are in the colours of royal yellow. The Orang Empat sit crossed legged on both the left and right sides of the seventh tier and face His Royal Highness Tuanku Yang Di Pertuan Besar and Her Royal Highness Tunku Ampuan.

Visitors can find costumes, weaponry, bed chambers as well as documents on the royal lineage on display in the museum.

I can't imagine how bad is the injury if one falls down from here.I held tightly to the handrail when going down because I'm a clumsy person. xo

xo

The top floor is a small chamber which is believed as a look out point for security guard in old days.

It is my honour to have a picture with him. Handsome, smart, single and royal member...a good husband candidate! LOL But the Chinese saying goes like this: Those who stay near will get it first, therefore I know I have no such luck cause I'm staying in KL and not Seri Menanti. LOL Good lucks to girls who staying at the area, try to linger the palace more! xoxo

The silly me play around with sarong cloth :P I'm just showing how Malay in old days look like (top only)....err just ignore my outfit yeah!

It's an interesting place to visit. Make it in your travel plan when you visit this state in future!
