Chinese New Year Set Menu @ PARKROYAL KL

Si Chuan Dou Hua at PARKROYAL KL is gearing up to welcome the year of Monkey with a variety of set menus and Yee Sang creations. From 18 January to 22 February, Chinese chef Foong Koon Sang and his talented team will put together an abundant feast of dishes which include a selection of colourful yee sang, prawn, scallop, abalone, garoupa, salmon and duck.

"Swinging to a Prosperous New Year" is available at Si Chuan Dou Hua for lunch from 12 noon to 230pm and dinner from 630pm to 1030pm.

鸿运鲍鱼捞生
A new Yee Sang creation from last year is Vegetarian Goose Yee Sang, a healthy option after our signature Tropical fruits Yee Sang. Other selections  of Yee Sang include soft shell crab, salmon, jellyfish, abalone, pacific clam and shark fin served with specially concocted sauces like sour plum sauce enhanced with a fruity flavour, spicy plum sauce with mango or the traditional sour plum sauce. Priced from RM68 nett (half portion) and RM118 nett (full portion) onwards, the yee sang dishes are available for dine in or take away.

During the media preview night, I was served with Prosperity Sliced Abalone Yee Sang as pictured above.

Other than that, Chef Foong has also crafted Poon Choy 7 Course Feast set menu which will be complemented by 6 other courses including a Prosperity Salmon Yee Sang or Wealth Sliced Abalone Yee Sang. The sets are priced at RM418 nett for 2-5 persons and RM988 nett for 6-10 persons.

人参干贝竹笙海参翅
Double-boiled Shark's Fin Soup with Dried Scallop, Sea Cucumber, Bamboo Pith and Ginseng

八宝珍珠翅
Braised Eight Treasures Shark's Fin Soup (the soup is avaiable for RM1688 package)

These 2 soups are greatly prepared. What a nutritious drink!

港式蒸老虎斑
Steamed Tiger Garoupa with Superior Soya Sauce is a must try as the fish is fresh and al-dente.

当归盐蒸菜园鸡
Steamed Village Chicken with Chinese Herb is someone's favourite of that night!

酱烧爆虾球
Stir-fried Large Prawn with Superior King Sauce has beautiful presentation but not my kind of taste.

碧玉曜柱海中宝
Braised Vegetables with Sea Cucumber, Dried Scallop, Sliced Abalone and Dried Oyster makes me could not ask for more! Look at all the ingredients they put together! They are my favourite!

香菇莲子烟鸭扣饭
Fried Rice with Black Mushroom and Smoked Duck is neatly presented at a plate.

This Si Chuan chicken is an add-on during the night which is not in the CNY set menu. Just like the name of the dish, it is hot and spicy! Everyone looking for drink after having this.

Another dish recommended by the staff on that night was the Spicy Tauhu Chicken. It is still spicy but not as much as the Si Chuan chicken. These two dishes symbolize the Si Chuan where the name of the restaurant originated.

香芋酥炸年糕
Fried Nian Gao with Yam

Even though it is a bit "heat" to take this at night, but it is irresistible especially someone with sweet tooth.

杨枝金露
Well, the Fried Nian Gao with Yam is balanced with the Chilled Grapefruit Sago. It is just nice and not too sweet to my palate.

The dishes above could be found in RM1988 package for a table of 10 persons including 10% service charge and 6% GST.
