My friends and I went for Dogathon this year. The event started from 6am till 2pm. Nevertheless, we went around 9 and reached about 10am. The weather was hot with the sun rose up high on our head. The parking space was a lot yet we had to park further as space next to the venue was full. For those never visit Bukit Ekspo UPM before, you need some time to find it as it was bit remote. With the signage on the road (if you come through UPM main gate entrance), it would be much easier :)
Well, this was my second time joining after missing many as went unnoticed when the publicity was not enough. I did not have any dog but I love the fur kids.
What welcomed us at our first sight from our car park was this lovely dog. The dog also has its own sunglasses! Wasn't that awesome?
There was a physical examination counter for the dog. As usual to check if the dog is ok, they need to stuff the thermometer into the dog's ass
We heard the announcement whereby the police officer from PDRM was going to have some shows with their trained dogs. I pressed the shutter when the dog carried by the owner standing next to us was looking at us.
Another funny incident was another dog trying his attempt to get into the sheltered performance area many times as the weather was too hot under the sun. But every time when the dog struggled to get in, his effort was impeded by his owner who trying hard to pull the dog's leash. I just felt funny looking at them.
The performance was interesting. The trained dog was smart, playful but obedient.
The trainer said the dog likes to play the towel during the spare time. No one can pull the towel from the dog's mouth. Yes, no one. If you think you want to challenge the dog, please come next year as the event was held annually by Faculty of Veterinary every year (March / April). Free entrance and free parking to all visitors.
For the PDRM dogs performance during dogathon, please watch the video and if possible leave some comments there :D
Strangely most of the dogs there did not bark at strangers. They behaved friendly and just let me carried or stand next to them for pictures.
I personally favoured the small dogs. They were easier to hug and carried around.
I saw these kinds of dogs in someone house. They were big and if they could stand up, I think their height was over my head. I don't know what's breed was that.
Dogathon was held at UPM recreation park with a big greenish field. There were some decorations for photo shooting besides the water station for the dogs.
Most of the dogs were panting that day as the sun too hot. The owner kept feeding them with water to avoid heat stroke. I think the dogs in a stroller were spoiled....LOL
There was maze set up for the dogs to give trust to the owner who calling and guided them to find the ways out. That was interesting as most dogs failed in the test.
I thought we could easily find food to have when the time reached 12pm but we were wrong. Most food stalls at the venue were for pets. Bak Kua for dogs was my first time seeing it.
This fella was cute. He only shook our hands when we had food.
Free portrait painting for the patrons too :)
