'Jom Jelajah Koperasi' Day 2 @ Penang

Schedule of the Day 2(第二天路程): Koperasi GDW Mengkuang Pulau Pinang Berhad > Koperasi Pasar Aneka Taman Selat Butterworth Berhad Koperasi Homestay Sungai Chenaam Nibong Tebal Berhad

The next morning, we headed to the assembly point to gather after taking breakfast at our own foster parent's home.

After that, we paid a visit to a bee farm at Kampung Mengkuang Titi.

Bee stings...that's what in my mind when I was there but then this seems to be wrong sometimes

The crew opened the plastic cover and we saw the tiny bees nestling in the honeycomb.

Take a close look, there are juicy brownish stuff and that is honey

That's the entrance and exit point for the bees

I was asked to try out the honey directly from the beehive. I hesitated to do it at first as I was quite worried if the bees would sting at me. Until I saw an Instagram video of my friend who did it previously, my fear was lessened, and I decided to give it a try.

Look at the bee at my hand...but it did not sting me ^^ It just give me a kiss xo

wow yummy...I sucked twice! This is the most natural honey I ever tasted directly from beehive ^^

I still want...can take home? LOL

Next, we went to the opposite side to visit the cottage industry.

Cottage Industry @ Koperasi GDW Mengkuang Pulau Pinang Berhad
By the time we arrive, they were making 'cold powder'. This was my first time knowing such kind of thing even though I stayed here for over 20 years. The white liquid is rice that soaked in water for a month, the water changed in between every 3 days.

By folding the leaf with small hole at the tip, the lady let the liquid came out drop by drop at the red cloth.

After a while, the liquid is crystallized. They collected it.

And the villager sells it. It is RM2 per container. I asked what is the usage of that. One of my Malay friends told me that is applying on face for cooling purpose. Such nature and traditional way!

Here they have Dodol (sweet toffee-like confection made with coconut milk, jaggery, and rice flour) , all are home made. They are selling in packs.

Before we left, we got a chance to see the Muruku (savory crunchy traditional snack made with flour, dried chilli, shrimp, onion, eggs and salt) making.

Congkak @ Koperasi GDW Mengkuang Pulau Pinang Berhad

Those who interested can have fun with playing Congkak - (mancala game of Malay origin). Only 2 players allowed for this game. It needs mental calculation to win. Since we short of time that day, thus we had to skip this. It has been many years I did not play. LOL

Koperasi Pasar Aneka Taman Selat Butterworth Berhad
Our next stop is Pasar Aneka Taman Selat Butterworth. It is being called 'Rope Walk' as well. There are 230 stalls at the site with Malay comprising 89% of the total.

We took a stroll visiting the stalls.

OMG! I saw black tape selling here! I seldom see anyone selling it in KL!

This is really a good place to look for old things/ antique stuff.

Besides, there is a stall owned by a Chinese who help to polish the silver accessories.

A stall selling art stuff.

Restaurant Pan Mutiara Butterworth

It was afternoon already when we visited the market. We were then being invited to Restaurant Pan Mutiara Butterworth for lunch.

I like the fried cuttlefish

the deco on the fish is very colourful

curry fish head is the signature dish over here.

Finished our lunch, immediately we had to rush to Kampung Chenaam for following activities. Along the way, there are some awesome scenery.

We were welcomed with some simple speech. Then every one of us being arranged to our foster parent's house.

This is the souvenir from the villagers- egg flower that normally Malay presents during formal occasion like wedding.

Some Malay light snack served at the spot as well.

In the evening, we were brought to the mangrove area.

It is a hot season. The ground is dry.

Some of the trees at mangrove area have high market value. They serve variety of purposes, for example piling works.

For those who stay in a city like me, it is always interesting to see something not always seen. This turkey is so cute, it imitates my friend's voice calling. When my friend shouted:" grroooouuuuu.....groooouuu......it answered by the same voice! hahaha

Fishing boat @ Koperasi Homestay Sungai Chenaam Nibong Tebal Berhad

The life here is leisure, it just makes me wanna sit there quietly to enjoy the moment.

At night, the Executive Chairman of Malaysia Cooperative Commission launched the program 'Jom Jelajah Koperasi'.

Dancing @ Koperasi Homestay Sungai Chenaam Nibong Tebal Berhad

One of the highlight for that night was that the international guests were being invited to the stage to dance together with the Malay dancers. It was very funny to see their move. LOL

Macho Cho from Korea was being interviewed about his stay experience. But somehow he was quite smart to sneak away without being noticed when others dancing on the stage.

The dinner was all BBQ seafood. That was the portion taken by my friend. He is a guy. After 15 minutes, when I looked at his plate again, it was full of shells...LOL

Siput Unam...something I never taste before. It is quite special as we need to use the stick to pull the meat out of the shell. It is salty just like the sea water. LOL I'm still not adapted to the taste.

Siput Unam...

Homestay@ Koperasi Homestay Sungai Chenaam Nibong Tebal Berhad
This is how my foster parent's house look like for second day. It is very spacious! 5 bedrooms in total!

the dining place, living room and kitchen

The 2 rooms that we visited...we chose the first one with air-con as the second room only got fan. The room still bigger than where I stayed currently. Such a comfy house!

Till here for this time, I have uploaded 71 photos here. Hope you all enjoy and give me some feedback ya! Thank you!
