Thong Kee Cafe Seapark 溏记海南茶室

After hiking Bukit Gasing last week, we decided to go to Thong Kee Cafe Seapark for our lunch. As usual, a bunch of crowds queued outside the shop. There were about 8 people in front of us. Luckily within 10 minutes of waiting, it was our turn to get a table. For those who just go there to buy food without sitting down, you could walk inside without having to queue outside.

This is not a cafe (like Starbucks/ The Coffee Bean) but also not your usual Kopitiam. They have a very systematic system of the table arrangement for the diners who queue outside. Once there is an empty table with green light on the TV screen, the staff will give you a piece of paper indicating your table number.

Like a norm, we have to remember this table number when we order our food at the stalls so that the hawker will send it to the right table.

To order drinks, we have to queue again. This is really unusual as, in other Kopitiam, the staff will come over and ask if you want to order any drink. The signature here is their Hainan coffee. So you could see Shopee Food Express, Foodpanda, Grab Food riders waiting for the counter staff to prepare the food and drinks. There are collection counters for app ordering and for the walk-in public.

We ordered the food from the stalls in kopitiam. I ordered Penang prawn meehun but the soup is very little to my liking as after having a few bites, my meehun had already absorbed all the soup. To us, this prawn meehun is average and nothing special. This bowl is not cheap as it costs me RM9.

My hubby ordered wantan mee. He commented the wantan mee is not bad and tastes like those commercialized food, without the ancient taste (没有古早味). He believed he could find a better wantan mee somewhere else. This wantan mee costs RM10.

The drink counter also sells some food like clay pot noodles, toasted bread with kaya and butter and this fried har mee. To me, this fried har mee is a disappointment. The RM8 fried har mee took a very long time to serve and reached us after we finished both our prawn meehun and wantan mee. I told my hubby to order the toasted bread to try when he went to line up for the drinks but instead, he ordered fried har mee which ended we were quite full afterwards.

My hubby ordered this 1+1 drink. They said 1+1 is 60% coffee, quite "Kaw’ for Malaysian's liking. This vacuum-packed Hainan coffee costs us RM4.80/ drink. Quite costly compared with other Kopitiam. Nevertheless, we just came to try if this coffee is really unusually tasty 😂 I told my hubby saying that the coffee (RM2.70) at the Kopitiam next to Pasar Besar Sungai Way also tastes similarly. After all, I think I would not buy this drink anymore since I have already tried it in addition to the crazy crowd with the waiting time in the queue.  You still can go to try it if you have never tried it yeah! Meanwhile, you can have a cup of delicious, just-brewed coffee from Wonda premium coffee beans at the most affordable price! Alternatively, you can check out here too!
