A day walk @ 4th Tastefully Food and Beverage Expo

4th Taste Fully Food & Beverage Expo was held on Putra World Trade Centre(PWTC), Hall 2 on 27th - 29th December 2013 10.00am - 8.00pm. I was one of the invited blogger to cover the event.

Pacific West

I was late. This was the first booth I visited. I bought Pacific West product before at Econsave but disappointed me as I can't taste any meat inside. I remembered I threw away the whole pack afterwards. So when I was here, I had mixed feeling. Well, now they comes up new product with 100% wild-caught salmon in the breadcrumb and puff.

We had free sample tasting that day. This time changed my mind, it was so great in taste. Inside is the red salmon meat wrapped with breadcrumb, but that is the real fish I ever taste.

Next booth we went was selling snacks. I had not heard about the brand before.

But the owner was very kind to offer us to taste each of this. They claimed those snacks they selling are healthy as they using vacuum freeze dried (no oil) and vacuum frying (2-3% oil content).

Can you believe this is crispy banana?

This is pumpkin chips.
OMG! They are so yummy!

Biogreen is well known brand as they advertise massively.
Biogreen

Apart from the healthy product, they selling healthy bakery too.

Legend of Tea

Next we head to Legend of Tea.
Legend of Tea.

They are selling various kind of tea leaves.

Here comes the French Rose for tea.

At the same booth, they are selling matcha green tea ice cream.

Green tea flavour ice cream, gives us a sweet and bitter taste at the same time!

Hong Kong Doll Instant Noodles

This was my first time heard of the brand. Are they imported from Hong Kong? Yes, they are made from Hong Kong.

Look at their varieties of products!

I believe if you love to eat instant noodles, I'm sure you can find your favourite flavour from Hong Kong Doll Instant Noodles. But I seldom eat instant noodles,so if you do, eat moderately.

Next was Nuewee, a brand new product in the market which I never heard before too. I only been given some drinks and brochure at the booth. If not mistaken, they are selling protein drinks.

Tian Di No1

Then, we were brought to Tian Di No1 booth which only selling apple vinegar.

Believe me, this product is truly awesome!

The price of the product is RM50 for 3 bottles.

It looks like a wine from far but not. I was given a cup to try that day and I love it. It tastes almost like apple juice, sweet but not too sour. Plus, we just need to directly pour out to drink without adding water.

Every blogger was given a bottle to try! OMG! That's super generous! I drank finish the whole bottle. One thing to take note is never go out after drinking as we will keep too many gas at the digestion tract.

Yuen Chun

I bet everyone know well about Yuen Chun, which I guess all Malaysian Chinese have one of its product at home. Yuen Chun has 104 years history since it started.

These are all the products that well known among all housewives.

Now, Yuen Chun decided to comes out something new. They produce quick cook range of cooking sauces for seasoning purpose.

13 cooking sauces serve for different dishes.

It is quite suitable for working mother because they no need to prepare the sauce themselves from all kinds of ingredients (that's time consuming) for each dish instead they just need to open one pack of Yuen Chun to add in the dish.

Yuen Chun products are on sales that day. For those buying above RM10 at Yuen Chun, they are entitled to repurchase Yuen Chun sauce with only RM1! I was there and the crowds went crazy for the offer. The queue was so long!

KMT is company selling Korean food. I believe you seen the instant noodle packaging before at the market right?

Besides instant noodles, they are selling frozen products.

By looking at the picture, I guess you know what Carjen selling. Yes, they selling instant noodles and light snack.

The packaging is very cute, isn't it? It reminded me about my childhood when I had Mamee, a kind of snack like Snek Mi. Well, I recommend everyone to eat moderately for the snack.

That's the end of  the day for a walk at 4th Tastefully Food and Beverage Expo.

That's all goodies from merchant. Thanks for all generous sponsors. Ops..I got 1 year supply of instant noodles now. LOL

Healthy Colourful Yee Sang @ Si Chuan Dou Hua

Last week I have been invited for a food review session at Si Chuan Dou Hua restaurant which is located opposite Chatz Brasserie for Christmas review. Both resides at Park Royal hotel, strategically in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

The difference between Chatz Brasserie and Si Chuan Dou Hua is that the later only serves Chinese cuisine and cooks upon order.

Chatz Brasserie

For the interior design, I found this tea pot is interesting! That is a handle with dragon body! Well, you know Chinese like dragon as that assembles good thing.

Next, what amazed me that day or my first visit is that there is a man carrying a tea pot with long spout! Yes, I had the same expression like that girl that day because I worried if the hot water spurted to my body. But no worry, the man is trained for many years in China and been hired by Park Royal to practice this when serving tea for every customer at Si Chuan Dou Hua.

Tropical Fruits Yee Sang

I ate varieties of yee sang from many places. This is my first time trying tropical fruits yee sang. The condiments and the sauces are come together with the plate of yee sang.

Tropical Fruits Yee Sang

It's so colourful yet healthy because they are rich in different antioxidants coming from sliced kiwi, dragon fruit, mango, strawberry, apple and pomelo to name a few. All are so freshly prepared!

I would like to have whole plate by myself :) Yee Sang is like a Chinese style salad which is good for health because all ingredients has not been cooked or processed and all nutrients are sustained.

For those who have no idea about yee sang, this is a special cultural dish eaten by Chinese during Chinese New Year celebration as a symbol of prosperity and good health. This practice is very popular in Malaysia and Singapore but almost unheard in Hong Kong which I'm also not sure the reason behind.

When everybody was here, we began to toss the shredded ingredients high up and saying auspicious wishes loud!It is believed that the height of the toss reflects the height of the diner's growth in fortunes, thus we toss enthusiastically until the table is messed.

Braised Coral Shark's Fin with Crab Meat, Bamboo Piths and Dry Scallop
Chinese love shark fin. So in Malaysia, Chinese restaurant still serving shark fin to diner.

Deep Fried Cod Fish with Pomelo Sauce
Coming up next is my favourite here! OMG! That's so scrumptious! The fish is so juicy, sweet, crunchy and I can't even describe more with words how delicious is it till you try it yourself! I want to have second piece but all finished by my friend, thus I only able to capture the taste in my mind now.

Traditional Chef's Specialty Smoked Farm Chicken
I think the second favourite here might be the chef's specialty smoked farm chicken treated with traditional way! When it served on the table, the smoke smell filled up the air in the room (even though no smoke really coming out from the chicken) and everyone is asking about it. Regardless the smoke smell, this is delicious! Somemore this is farm chicken which is freely roaming around, therefore the meat texture is nicer.

Sauteed Fresh Water Prawns with Butter and Corn Flakes
For Chinese New Year menu, we never miss out prawn (虾-pronounced as 'ha' in Cantonese, hahaha= laugher)So Chinese believe prawn brings happiness in new year. I love prawn especially big prawn like shown above but for me this one is quite rich in taste and I can't have second piece anymore.

Braised Sea Cucumber, Black Mushroom, Dry Oyster and Black Moss with Greens

Well, we have enough of meat and now it's time for some vegetables! Sea cucumber is so expensive and now I can have it here! They also added in black moss (发菜=发财,pronounced as 'fatt choy' in Cantonese)as that represents great wealth/fortune.

Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles with Scallop
Then, we served with Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles which is not common during Chinese New Year in Malaysia. This is my first time having it. However, I still love the overall taste, the spiciness from the soup is not strong but acceptable.

Steamed 'Nian Gao' with Shredded Coconut
Last is the common dessert during Chinese New Year. Normally we being served fried 'Nian Gao' but this time we have more healthier version of 'Nian Gao'. The taste is not bad overall. For those we never eat before, this is a sweet dessert made from glutinous rice and finishing look is sticky and appears in brown colour. Some people translate and call it rice cake or year cake.

From Wikipedia:
It is considered good luck to eat nian gao during this time, because "nian gao" is a homonym for "higher year." The Chinese word 粘 (nián), meaning "sticky", is identical in sound to 年, meaning "year", and the word 糕 (gāo), meaning "cake" is identical in sound to 高, meaning "high or tall". As such, eating nian gao has the symbolism of raising oneself taller in each coming year (年年高升 niánnián gāoshēng).

Dishes above were randomly selected by the chef from the 6 menus below. Here are the pricing comes together with the dishes available in each menu set. (1USD  RM3.26)
