Visiting Chickaboo @ Desaru Ostrich Farm

It is late at night. I could not think of anything but I have a lot of outstanding posts to finish. As far as I remember, I never visited any ostrich farm before. That was my first time. Ostrich is the biggest bird in the world. It has become overnight social media star a few months back when an ostrich escaped from a car and sprinted down KL Federal highway caused a massive jam. People gift her a name "Chickaboo"!

Meet 155 years old crocodiles @ Teluk Sengat Crocodile Farm

"What? Visiting crocodile farm again? What's so special with the crocodiles? I just visited the crocodiles not along ago in Paya Indah Wetlands, Selangor." That was what playing in my mind when my friend suggested me to visit the crocodile farm when traveling to Desaru, Johor.

Nevertheless, the place does not disappoint me as I have gained a lot of knowledge from the owner's sharing. This crocodile farm is located at Teluk Sengat, about 30 minutes driving distance from Desaru.

Teluk Sengat is located at the end of Sungai Johor. Teluk Sengat means "thorny harbour" in Malay. It was said that ancestors had to avoid a kind of fish with thorns on their backs and underwater brambles before they could go onshore and later settled in Teluk Sengat. Teluk Sengat Crocodile Farm is established since 1950 and opened to the public in 1997. The farm spans across 10 acres and is famed as the largest crocodile farm in Peninsular Malaysia.

Must Visit Place in Desaru @ Desaru Fruit Farm

I never thought it is so fun at Desaru Fruit Farm perhaps I'm a city girl who never lives in kampung. Desaru Fruit Farm has so much to offer than only a fruit farm visitation. Occupying an area of 100 acres planted with more than 100 varieties of tropical fruits, the farm is awarded many times by tourism. The China show " 暑假去哪儿" also filming at this place. I never heard of Desaru Fruit Farm until someone suggested me to pay a visit. In my opinion, it is fun, educational, healthy and hearty trip to Desaru Fruit Farm. Why I say so? You gonna read till the end!

Staycation @ Tiara Desaru Seaview Residence

This is my N times been to Johor but my first time to Desaru. Nevertheless, it is a bit different from previous trips, I brought a bunch of Chinese bloggers along with the newly formed Malaysia Chinese Blogger Club. At first, I would like to address my gratefulness to the sponsors including Tiara Desaru Seaview Residence and Johor Tourism who accommodate us throughout our stays.

I never heard of Tiara Desaru Seaview Residence until a friend mentioned it. I was fascinated with the place by the pictures he shared with me. This is why I pleaded them to let us stay even though the place is not ready to accommodate any guests.

Guardian Walkathon 2016

Hundreds turned up at Putrajaya’s iconic wetland just after sunrise today to celebrate Malaysia Day and to commit to a healthier lifestyle. They came in groups and as families; young and old, and some came in special national costumes to mark the occasion. As having fun and quality time were part of morning’s agenda, the walkathon had two events - the 3- kilometer fun walk and the 5-kilometre fun walk.

It rained heavily before the event started. After waiting for an hour, the rain still not stopped. Nevertheless, it started to drizzle afterward. The walkathoners began to walk with an umbrella when the whistle was blown. It seemed like nothing could stop this bunch of participants from joining the event.

Besides the walk, there were more games and a lucky draw for everyone.

For the participants, they not only benefitted from a morning of healthy activities but went home knowing that their effort benefitted hundreds of orphans and needy children of 15 charity homes.

In conjunction with the walkathon, Guardian Malaysia donated a total of RM300,000 to 15 homes across the country. Each home received RM20,000. Part of the charity funds came from the Walkathon ticket sales, but the bulk of the RM300,000 came from Guardian Malaysia. Representatives of three of the homes received their cheques from Christina Low, Marketing Director at the prize presentation ceremony. They are from the Rumah Penyayang Ulin Nuha; Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim Muhammad Al-Fateh, Pusat Jagaan Pertubuhan Anak-Anak Yatim Darul Aminan.

Now in its 7th year, the walkathon has always included a charity element, with funds raised for various different causes.

To enable their business partners to join in the fun in a special way, a 100 metre Corporate Mascot Dash was also held.

The winner of the Most Outstanding Costume Competition received Guardian vouchers worth RM1,000. Ten others received consolation prizes of RM100 Guardian vouchers each.

What interesting thing you can do at Paya Indah Wetlands?

Paya Indah Wetlands is located at Kuala Langat, Selangor which is 30 km from KL and 15 km from KLIA. The total area of the park is 3100 hectares. Paya Indah Wetlands has been officiated by Tun Mahathir, former Prime Minister in 2001.

Paya Indah Wetlands was initially an abandoned land which had been heavily degraded by tin mining and sand dredging activities started since 1983. The tin mining activity stopped in 1997 as the dredger was broken down which resulted in forming of 14 man-made lakes. Nevertheless, these man-made lakes were polluted with the usage of the chemical during the tin mining activity. The level of heavy metal, mercury and etc was detected high during that time. Hence, the Prime Minister department decided to take measure to conserve and restore the various biodiversity at Paya Indah Wetlands.
