Tengku Nasariah Tengku Syed Ibrahim,Petrosains

After the speech, members of the media were taken for a guided tour to Petrosains, The Discovery Centre, Petronas Twin Towers and Petrosains current visiting exhibition-Dialogue in The Dark during this media engagement session.

I hope you recognize Braille - the writing system used by the blind in above picture!

The first station we head was Dialogue in The Dark. I had no idea about what kind of exhibition was that before I went inside. I did not do any research until my friend told me that we were going to purchase and eating food inside in complete darkness. I was like "Huh??" We were told not to bring anything inside like bag, handphone, spectacles and camera but money (for purchasing food). So no photo inside was taken and shared here. All these belongings were kept and locked in the locker.

That was the only part they allowed us to take photo- the entrance to the exhibition. At this point, we were separated into a few groups, each with 9 members. Everyone of us was given a long stick and was taught how to use it.

After the short brief, I was quite anxious and scared as I peeked through the curtain and nothing seen, all in complete darkness. That was quite different from what I imagined to see the glowing art and some sort like that.

They asked us to line up and I walked behind a Malay girl with my hand put on her shoulder. A few steps walk behind the curtain, I was so much funked as I could not see the Malay girl in front of me and even my own fingers! But one thing to relief was that there was a tour guide in front of us. She told us to keep right while moving as there was a wall at our right hand side. I touched the wall while walking and my left hand still put on her shoulder. Then till a certain point, I was terrified as there was no more wall at my right!

I was helpless and did not know what to do. Then, the tour guide told us to touch the handrail at my right. I was relief at that moment when I managed to grab the handrail and walked. Next, the tour guide told us that we already arrived at ‘jungle’. I heard bird chirping sound and the floor was no more carpet but I felt leaves and soft land when I stepped on it.

After that, we were led to a 'bridge'. Yes, I can felt the 'bridge' was swaying while we walked on it. The tour guide then told us we reached 'house tree'. I seen nothing but I heard the sound assimilated like what we should heard in jungle. Next, we were guided to cross the 'road'. Following this, we arrived at 'Tugu Negara' (National Monument). They asked us to touch. I felt something protruded engraved on that thing but I did not know what was that. My friend who went with me told me afterwards that he knew that's the wording of Tugu Negara as he felt with the fingers. I was amazed with that.

Now I knew how the blind experienced and found out our Tugu Negara in a very different way. Hereafter, we were brought to Pasar Malam (night market). There was no one shouting for bargain but we were asked to touch the goods and I knew there was a vegetables stall at my right side. We kept on moving with the wall at our left side. We reached a cafe counter. At here, we were supposed to order and purchase our food and eat it. However, due to technical error as the food supply was not there yet, we missed the chance to dine in the dark. We kept on moving with the aid of wall till the exit point.

I was happy as I able to see light again. Through this DID exhibition, I learnt a lot. First thing, we need to appreciate what we have especially we have a pair of eyes to see. There are so much things can do with our eyes. Second, I knew the fear of the blind felt when they can't see anything. Always lend them a helping hand when you see them on the road. The world of the blind is different from us! I was told that the guide in the dark was all blind! Look...they are still contributing to society even though they are blind and they can do better in the dark than us who can see. They can worked in total darkness for 8 hours inside to guide the tourists while normal people can't make it. I was so amazed and paid a high respect for them. Above all, we are all same under darkness, no colour difference, no ugly no pretty, no discrimination.

If you still no idea about it, let's have a look at this video. That was taken by CNN.

Simple introduction:
The concept of Dialogue in the Dark is simple, visitors are lead by blind guides in groups through specially constructed dark rooms in which scent, sound, wind, temperature and texture convey the characteristics of daily environments – for example a park, a city, a boat cruise or a bar. The daily routines become a new experience. A reversal of roles is created: people who can see are taken out of their familiar environment. Blind people provide them with security and a sense of orientation by transmitting to them a world without pictures. The tour itself lasts 45 minutes but the effects can last a lifetime.
The concept has been proved quite effective. Over the last twenty years Dialogue in the Dark has been presented in more than 30 countries and 130 cities throughout the world since its opening in 1988. More than seven million visitors worldwide have experienced Dialogue in the Dark and thousands of blind guides and trainers have found employment through Dialogue in the Dark.

Malaysia (the blue dot) is now one of the country which houses Dialogue in the Dark exhibition. I definitely recommend you to pay a visit if you haven't. It will be a meaningful and unforgettable experience throughout your life and you will have different insights after all.

Auto Arcade CNY 2014 Open House

Last Sunday I was invited to Auto Arcade Chinese New Year Open House at Petaling Jaya. Hmmm...I seldom go to Petaling Jaya as it is far away from my house. But you know I was attracted by the food shown in the email- scrumptious Shogun (Japanese) buffet! Thus, I decided to go without thinking long. Walking around the company, I was surprised how big and spacious the site to display more than 600 imported cars.

Auto Arcade which covers more than 4 acres land consisted of 9 different traders:
Auto Arcade
  • Able Automobile Sdn Bhd
  • Abadi Motor Sdn Bhd
  • A&Z Motors Enterprise
  • Hoover Marketing Sdn Bhd
  • Mega Otomobil Sdn Bhd
  • Perniagaan Shirba Sdn Bhd
  • Regas Motors Sdn Bhd
  • Rejang Motor Trading Sdn Bhd
  • RK Golden Dragon Sdn Bhd

Patrolling around, we found this car! Sorry I have no idea what car is it but it is huge and looks very comfortable inside. That's the only car park inside a air-con room and without price tag. I think this car is not for sale but for display only.

Established in 2011, Auto Arcade houses wide arrays of well-known auto brands such as Porsche, Lexus, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, Subaru, BMW and lots more.

I like the design of this car!

I saw Harley Davidson at a very close distance!
Harley Davidson!

This is my first time to view the interior design of the big bikes!

Infinite rows of cars to view while nibbling on a delicious sashimi or sushi.

Mini Cooper is here too!
Mini Cooper!

Okay, that's enough of the cars pictures. This car is not on sales. It was there to distribute the free Red Bull drinks all the way from Europe! Oh what a relief to have this in a hot day!

This is the crowd that day. Everyone is queuing up for taking the food! I guess everyone likes the food right?

That's what I got for my first round! That ends my day at Auto Arcade CNY 2014 Open House. So if you are going to buy new and imported cars and clueless of what to buy, come to Auto Arcade as I believe you will be spoiled with the very wide selection of cars here!

Relaunch of Grill 582: A destination for Meat Lovers and Wine Connoiseurs

Grill 582 at BEST WESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral in collaboration with The Wine Academy has recently launched its first Wine Program highlighting the rich variety of wine from regions across the globe with various vintages.

I was invited for their event last week. The Wine Program was launched in line with the positioning of Grill 582 as a destination for wine connoisseurs and meat lovers. So this is a cool place to chill out if you guys love grill meat and wine.

Grill 582 can accommodate up to 80 persons at one time and there is also an exclusive private dining room which seats 8 to 10 persons for guests who prefer privacy.

This is how the private dining room at Grill 582 look like.

It offers more than 130 selections under a single roof.

It was a fun wine degustation night. Just one thing I was not satisfy > why they put all food scattered? I had to take food from different corners (I had to ask from other people that day when I saw they had some foods which I did not have). For next event, I hope they have a agenda of the day.

Japan Fair - Iwate Food Fair

Last december, Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) organized a 'Welcome Japan Fair' jointly with ' Iwate Food Fair' at Aeon Bandar Utama.

There were various of exciting activities and events specially lined up such as Japanese Drum Performance by Wakaido Syo, Japanese Yosokoi Soran Dance, Ninja Performance, Japanese cooking demonstration of 'Mochi', 'Kids Bento', 'Osechi', origamo workshop and kimono dress up experience and more.

The activities varied from day 1 to day 7. On media launching day, there was a origami workshop booth.

I learnt to make the paper blouse at the origami booth. The staffs told us that the youngsters makes the paper blouse to their parents for thanksgiving.

The 'Iwate Food Fair' introduced a diverse range of fresh and delectable food made in the Iwate prefecture, in hopes to drive more awareness for the Malaysian customers to get acquainted with Iwate products. Iwate prefecture, the second largest prefecture in Japan after Hokkaido, is located on the north-east of Japan's main island of Honshu. It is renowned for its high quality soil and favourable weather conditions that are suitable for agriculture, fishery and forestry.

That was the end of the event. Nothing much interesting. During the event, everyone was required to write their wishes on the origami given and then hung at the plum flower branches there. My wish is simple, hope everyone I know stay in good health. Yeah, I think health is far more important than everything else.

Sasa Ladies Day 2013

Sasa Ladies Day was held annually at Selangor Turf Club. The event was happened few months ago but only share today as quite busy in January.

This is my third year joining the event. This time we are having the party at the newly opened bar. The bar is truly awesome!

Outside the bar, there is a carriage for us to photoshoot. My dress is purchased during Metrojaya clearance sales. That only costed me RM5 (USD 1.52). To see my warehouse sales hauls, click here

That reminds me the story of Cinderella :)

I saw many awesome bloggers and they dressed pretty gorgeous!

This was my makeup and dress up for that day. Every ladies must wear a hat for the event as that was the dress code, thus I bought one at Mydin. Guess what? That only costed me RM9.90 (USD 3). It is actually a hair band but look like a hat too.

Next we had jewelry fashion show. All the models are Caucasian, they are slim and tall. Their body shape is just like a clone of one another.

The cocktail. I don't like them putting the salt at the glass.

Next, we had best dressed prize giving ceremony. Personally feel that's unfair. All of the winners are from the VIPs group and celebrity. Last year, the best dressed competition was divided into two categories - the VIPs and normal guests.

Okay...just ignore the contest. I don't want let it to ruin my mood. We should have some fun. I took some pictures with Angeline and Amelia. Both of them are still studying and bloggers at the same time.

Every guest would have this tag while register. They reminded us to keep till the end of the event for redeeming the goodies bag.

That's the end of the day. Hmmm....I felt unhappy because they giving me the November magazine instead of December. Other than that, every thing was okay.

All the goodies inside my goodies bag. It's not a lot compared with previous year. But the two skin care products costed RM 148 (USD 45) and RM 175 (USD 53) respectively.

Closer look at the beautiful key chain. It is not available at the store. Precious piece that I'm going to keep it at the box.

Lastly, the pen from Sasa. Everyone thought it was a lipstick and yeah everyone got it wrongly. It's just a pen!
