🌿 Ampang Pecah – A Scenic Riverside with Historic Roots
Ampang Pecah is a scenic and serene spot located just outside the town center of Kuala Kubu Bharu. From my visit, it looked like a river with clear, shallow water flowing peacefully through a lush green landscape. The area felt calm and relaxing—perfect for a quick nature break. I saw a few families and groups setting up camp by the riverbank, and others enjoying the cool water, playing or bathing in the natural surroundings.
🏮 Yue Shan Gu Miao – A Colourful Temple on the Hill
Yue Shan Gu Miao is a charming and peaceful Chinese temple nestled on a slightly hilly slope in Kuala Kubu Bharu. The temple is easily spotted from the main road in town, thanks to its elevated position and vibrant colours—but getting there can be a bit tricky. The entrance is somewhat confusing, as you’ll need to drive through a quiet government quarters area, and there are very few signboards to guide the way.
One of the most striking features of Yue Shan Gu Miao is its colourful staircase leading up to the main prayer hall. Painted in vibrant rainbow hues, the stairs have become a popular photo spot—definitely Insta-worthy! Whether you're a photographer or just someone who enjoys pretty landmarks, the stairway alone is reason enough to stop by. Surrounded by greenery and with a view of the surrounding hills, the temple offers a peaceful and slightly elevated vantage point of the town.
Even if you're not visiting for religious reasons, the calm atmosphere, colourful details, and scenic location make Yue Shan Gu Miao a beautiful stop on any Kuala Kubu Bharu day trip itinerary.
🏡 Galeri Sejarah KKB – Small Gallery, Big Stories
Though small, this gallery is definitely worth a visit. It's not just about looking at old items—it’s the stories, the personal interaction, and the unexpected facts that make it memorable. I walked away with a deeper appreciation for the town and its heritage.
The Kuala Kubu Bharu Dam, also known as Sungai Selangor Dam, is a must-pass scenic spot for anyone heading up to Fraser’s Hill. Located just a short drive from the town, the dam offers a stunning panoramic view of the vast lake surrounded by lush hills—especially beautiful in the morning when the mist gently hovers over the water. It’s a peaceful lookout point that makes you want to stop and take in the serenity before continuing your journey uphill.
There’s a small playground area nearby, making it a nice pit stop for families. The proper parking area also makes it easy and convenient to pull over safely, take photos, or simply enjoy the view. Whether you're on a road trip or a day trip, this dam area is well worth the stop—not just for the scenery, but also as a refreshing pause before the winding road to Bukit Fraser begins.
A little further from the main square lies a serene fish pond/lake, set amidst untouched nature. The area is surrounded by an abundance of beautiful, colourful flowers, some of which you rarely see elsewhere—likely thriving only in the cooler climate unique to Fraser’s Hill. It’s a peaceful spot perfect for a stroll or simply enjoying the fresh mountain air.
For those looking for activities, there’s an equestrian center where visitors can go horse riding for a small fee, making it a fun and unique experience, especially for families. Golf lovers will also appreciate the Fraser’s Hill Golf Club, one of the oldest in Malaysia, offering a classic course set against lush, hilly backdrops.
To wind down, there are several cozy cafés scattered around the hill where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while taking in the cool weather and tranquil atmosphere. Whether you’re a nature lover, history enthusiast, or just seeking a relaxing escape, Fraser’s Hill offers a refreshing blend of colonial charm and natural beauty.
🔥 Kuala Kubu Bharu Hot Spring – A Local Wellness Spot

From scenic riversides like Ampang Pecah, spiritual stops like Yue Shan Gu Miao, and heritage-rich spots like the Galeri Sejarah, to rejuvenating nature escapes at the hot spring and Sungai Selangor Dam, every corner offers something unique. The journey up to Fraser’s Hill may be winding, but the cool air, colonial charm, and vibrant blooms at the top make it a perfect highland escape.
