Back to Nature Retreat @ Genting Long House

Tomorrow is Selangor holiday as declared by our Selangor Chief Minister following the winning of the football cup in national level. Well, including Friday, I'm having 4 days of rest for this weekend. I hope I'm not depressed on next Tuesday after a long break. This time I will share my getaway in Genting Highlands with a bunch of bloggers and underprivileged youths for 2 days 1 night camp here.

We took the Genting bus at Wisma Genting and arrived at Genting Awana Long House around 9am. The first activity of the day was jungle trekking. We spent about 1-2 hours in the jungle up and down the hill. For a person who is rarely exercise, I was bit exhausted when walking up the hill.

We were divided into 7 groups. This was the group picture before we departed.

The first half of the journey was basically went down the hill and as expected another half was uphill.

There are tags label the plants surrounding us.

It is an easy trail but for some places, we need to lower down the body to pass through.

 The cameraman was stuck. O.O

 My tiring and exhausted face.

I think I looked pale. I was lack of oxygen. LOL...Face palm.

A short distance more before we got out from the jungle.

My leg was pretty itchy when I sat down. Have a check and found a leech. And some blood stain at the back of my leg too without any thing. Suspected bit by something and unsure if that was by leech too.

The blood was flowing out non stop. Till now after a week, the bite side still very itchy :( Perhaps I should wear longer socks next time.

I thought we went out from jungle already and the next route would be along the golf course. But no, the Marshall asked us to walk up as that was the short cut to the Long House. I would tell you this very short trail was very terrible experience for me. It is not a proper trail. It is steep, slippery and the plant I want to hold on most probably full with thorn. Ants were at the branches and plants to where we stood. My leg got another bite here.

Finally, lunch time. While I endured the itchiness, I still walked around to take pictures and food. Hehe but I was delighted when I saw green mussels :D

Look at the youth, they were pretty happy with the food served.

Next, the invited VIP, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, giving speech to the crowd.
